Set up restrictions
Optibase allows you to control who sees your test by setting restrictions based on geography, device type, operating system, and browser. This ensures that your tests only run for the right audience — improving relevance and accuracy.

How to access restrictions
Go to the Tests page
Click on the test you want to configure
In the test dashboard, open the Restrictions section
All restriction types are optional. If none are set, your test will run for all users by default.
Restriction types
Control which countries can see the test.
Default: All countries are included
To target specific countries:
Click on Country under Geo Restrictions
Select one or more countries from the list
Use this to run localized tests or exclude traffic from regions with low relevance.
Screen Size / Device Type
Choose which device types should be included in the test:
Phone
Tablet
Desktop
You can toggle each option on or off based on your test goals.
Ideal for mobile-optimized experiences or desktop-only UI experiments.
Operating System Restrictions
Limit your test to specific operating systems:
Mac OS
iOS
Windows
Android
Linux
Other
Use this when testing OS-specific features, styles, or bugs.
Browser Restrictions
Control which browsers will display the test:
Chrome
Safari
Firefox
Edge
Internet Explorer
Opera
Other
Browser restrictions are useful for:
Ensuring compatibility before full rollout
Targeting users on browsers with known behavior differences
Tips for better targeting
Geo Restrictions: Run localized messaging or language tests
Device/Screen Restrictions: Optimize layouts for mobile or desktop users
OS Restrictions: Target platform-specific functionality
Browser Restrictions: Isolate behavior or design differences in specific browsers
These filters help you run more precise experiments and avoid skewed results from irrelevant user segments.
